Drift ice iceboat "the GARINKO ship 2"

 □To about 4km from an Okhotsk new Mombetsu airport, and former Mombetsu before central city area Mombetsu-city (GARIYA area)

　The Sea of Okhotsk of winter pressed for this area at hand, and the institutions of drift ice relation including a drift ice iceboat "the GARINKO ship 2" have gathered.

　"The GARINKO ship 2" is the full length of 35m, about 150t, and 195 passengers.
　Voyage ocean space is about 10km from the Mombetsu harbor.
　The maximum speed is 9.5 knots.
　It sails with a huge drill, breaking drift ice.

　Boarding procedure is carried out and you can board at the "sea exchange hall" which served as the station of "the GARINKO ship 2"
　The voyage of about 1 hour starts. Drift ice will be made close and you will be impressed by the beauty and molding beauty. 　Moreover, the vibration of a ship when breaking a drift ice field with a huge drill can also be felt.
　The Steller's sea eagle which is resting feather on drift ice, and OJIROWASHI and the lying GOMAFU seal can also be seen. Winter operation is from January to March.
　Extraordinary operation is included and they have eight services per day.
　The facilities which look at drift ice, the morning sun, and the setting sun also operate.

An iced see view tower "the Okhotsk tower"

　The world's first view which stands into the icy sea before impression of drift ice experience of "the GARINKO number 2" cools down -- let's go to a tower "the Okhotsk tower"!
　this tower -- a height of 46m, the fourth floor of marine, and the first floor of the seabed.
　A submarine story is a natural observation room. The situation in the sea is observable from a window. The mystery of drift ice and a marine organism can be touched.
　Unlike the view from "the GARINKO ship 2", the drift ice from the seabed can experience a little diving feeling.
　For an entry hall and the second floor, a drift ice observation room and an image hole, and the third floor are iced sea view lounge.

Drift ice science center "Giza"

 　In adjoining " Okhotsk drift ice science center and Giza", a scientific viewpoint can teach about drift ice happily.
　Though regrettable, even if drift ice is not seen, real drift ice can also be seen and touched at the intense-cold experience room of 20 below the freezing point degrees of this institution.

　On a drift ice play land, you can learn about drift ice, playing.

　Moreover, in a dome screen projection image hole, a vision presence full of experience can do the grand aerial-photographing scenery of drift ice etc.

Goma-chan land

　The "Okhotsk Tokkari center" (Goma-chan land) has become about the protection center of a domestic only seal at the same time it breeds a seal.
　A GOMAFU seal is seen in the time, the port, and the offing of drift ice going south around Mombetsu. Moreover, a sight which lies in drift ice is also caught.
　In this center, the child seal which became weak with the baby who got separated from the mother also with the　misfortune, illness, etc. is protected and treated.

　A "Tokkari" is Ainu language and is the meaning a "seal."
　About 30 seals, such as a GOMAFU seal, are bred in this center.
　Goma who shows charms to an observation pool or a childcare pool.
　"Goma-chan" who came out from the pool can be seen immediately in near, hearing description of a breeding member at day time of 5 times per and food.

 　She graduates from the vocational school in Tokyo, and works in a TOKKARI center, and is three years.
　The field where a seal is different every day is touched, and charm is felt for this work.
　It has the influence of comics "boy ASHIBE", and the visitors are increasing in number.
　In this center, a seal can be seen in near.
　If you observe, I will think that you notice various places of a seal.

A hot bath can also be enjoyed!
The station of HYOMON

　A GARIYA area is left and it is to a central city area.
　At "the station of the Okhotsk HYOMON" of the old Mombetsu station, shoppings, such as fresh marine products landed in the Mombetsu harbor, a meal, and a hot bath (natural water use "hot water of a TOKKARI") can be enjoyed.

　Let's be soaked in "hot water of TOKKARI", and a hot spring (the "Mombetsu hot spring" (alkaline hypotonicity mineral spring), optical Akashi hot spring) in the city, and relieve the tiredness of the trip of absorbed in drift ice!
